A few weeks ago... actually it was St. Patrick's day...
So on fricken St. Paddy's day I dragged Aurel up to the Whitney biannual show for some art lessons.

She has a pretty awesome man-sized drawing hanging on the wall up there. I had to opportunity to see its progression here and there as she worked on it so I was antsy to see what the hell it looked like when it was done.
Its got a wizard staff. That’s a selling point for me.

Anyhow, it’s really good and made me laugh.

I think if you can make a great piece of art that has even the smallest stamp of humor on it then you're doing better then all of the "change-the-world-with-my-seriousness/self-loathing" artists on the block.

Personally I can't handle all that stuff even if it is amazing. Once I bought Bjork's movie dancer in the dark, popped it in, started welling up and did everything but burn it and bury the ashes in the backyard.
I’ll never watch it again.
The odd part is I thought it was amazing but fuck all that torture. I don't need the beating.

So where was I? Oh yeah.......going to an art museum with an artist is something I’ve never done.

Dude! You should try it.  Aurel knew all types of behind the music stuff about what was in there.
It was great.  We came up with a protocol for things that we didn’t like or disagreed on.  If she said she hated this one thing I’d say "Aye! Stand back there. It’ll get better"
Sometimes she'd tell me the same. It worked mostly.

After seeing great big gobs of art for a couple of hours we went to the park across the street where all types of goth kids were hanging out post paddy's parade drinking beers and being cool in the bushes.
We took some flicks and I got her to smile, which might be one of my favorite things so far this year.
She didn’t seem as hyped as I was on these but she can just go stand back there and look.
I'M the picture taker!

Thanks aurel.
